Victory lap for Donald Trump and Republicans as Amy Coney Barrett is finally confirmed as the new US Supreme Court Justice

The US Senate has confirmed Amy Coney Barrette as the new Supreme Court Justice, a huge victory lap for President Donald Trump few weeks to the US presidential election. Amy Coney Barrett who was at the White House, took the first of two oaths to join the Supreme Court and will officially join the bench after taking the second oath on Tuesday.   The new US Supreme Court Justice Barrett stated that she has no specific agenda and will always adhere to the laws of the constitution.     She said, “The oath that I have solemnly taken tonight means at its core that I’ll do my job without any fear or favour.”   Justice Amy Coney Barrett swearing in as the newest member of the Supreme Court comes after Trump promised to add another Supreme Court Justice to the bench after the death of Ruth Ginsberg.   Barrett's confirmation means Trump has sworn in three Conservative judges during his first four years in office, turning the Supreme Court to a conservative majority.  

IPOB and other secessionist groups hijacked #EndSARS protest - National Economic Council

US Democratic Party presidential candidate, Joe Biden mistakenly referred to US President, Donald Trump as 'George' during a live interview, mistaking him for George Bush in a new gaffe.   The 77-year-old made the gaffe as he spoke to supporters during an 'I Will Vote Concert' virtual event alongside his wife Jill. "What kind of country we're gonna be? Four more years of George, ah, George...," he said before Mrs. Biden corrected him under her breath.     Quickly correcting himself, he continued: "Gonna find ourselves in a position where if Trump gets elected we're going to be in a different world."   Trump on his official Twitter page reacted, Trump wrote; "Joe Biden called me George yesterday. COVID19 palliatives: I forgive my accusers– Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar-Faruk

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Faruk, says she has forgiven those who accused her of hoarding COVID-19 palliatives.   Recall that in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic and the lockdown enforced, the Federal government disbursed funds for the provision of palliatives such as food items to the poor and vulnerable. Umar-Faruk was accused of hoarding the palliatives. She was also accused of disbursing expired products which some states returned to her ministry.   In the wake of the EndSARS protest, Nigerians discovered warehouses where some state governments stored the palliatives. A lawmaker in Lagos state in a statement released said he was to distribute the palliatives on his birthday before it was looted.   The Minister was in Gusau, Zamfara state on Monday, October 26 where she was asked to react to the recent discoveries. ICPC to investigate hoarded COVID19 palliatives discovered in different states

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it will be investigating the rationale behind the storage of palliative materials in warehouses across the country which were supposed to be distributed to poor and vulnerable Nigerians.   In a statement released today October 27, the ICPC said that in view of the recent looting spree witnessed in some warehouses where the palliatives were hoarded, the commission will investigate the sources of goods looted from palliatives warehouses, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and private houses to unravel whether or not the properties looted were personally acquired, the government procured, CACOVID donated, or are empowerment materials which are part of the constituency projects initiative of the Federal Government.    The statement adds that the commission will also scale up the monitoring of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) charged with the acquisition and distribution of COVID-19

Drama as 58-year-old woman storms church with her daughters to stop her estranged husband's wedding plans with another woman

There was drama at Our Lady of Fatima in Jinja City, Uganda when a woman who separated from her husband 30 years ago stormed the church service to stop his wedding plans with another woman.     58-year-old Mary Baseka Norah stormed the morning service on Sunday, October 25, with her daughters demanding the church leaders to halt the marriage banns and other wedding preparations for her husband, Mr. Martin Tibalira with whom she has two children.   Ms. Baseka interrupted the marriage banns saying she could not allow her husband to take on another woman (Ms. Proscovia Nabirye) as his wife because they are still legally married.   However, as she was still explaining, the police were called to intervene before she was hounded out of the church and ordered to leave the premises.   “I am here to stop my husband from marrying another woman because we are still legally married. However, I’m surprised to see police hounding me from the church yet I would think they are supposed to protect me.

Apparently, the lootings taking place in Lagos is not over.   All the newly installed traffic lights on the newly redesigned Allen interchange have reportedly been stolen.   Gawat Jubril, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor made this announcement on Twitter, writing: "All the newly installed Traffic Lights on the newly redesigned Allen interchange... GONE."    

Looters invade Abuja NYSC camp, cart away mattresses and bags of rice (videos)

Hoodlums broke into the Orientation Camp of the National Youth Corps in Kubwa, Abuja on Tuesday October 27, carting away different items such as bags of rice, mattresses, and others.   Residents in the neighborhood also took advantage of the unrest to participate in the looting.   Watch the video below

30-year-old Nigerian man, Obinna Emanuel was allegedly murdered by his Nigerian wife, Oge Abigail, in New Delhi, India after she suspected him of having an affair with another woman. According to the Times of India, police received information from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital that a patient named Emmanuel with stab wounds had been brought for treatment by his wife but was declared dead on arrival.   By the time cops arrived the hospital, the woman had escaped. Officers, however, tracked her down and questioned her. She told police that they got married in September 2019 but started living separately since August 2020, after differences cropped up between them. However, they had been meeting often even after that. It was gathered that on October 25, Abigail went to meet Emanuel at his residence in Dwarka Mor but found another woman there. Former Manchester United star and current Wales coach, Ryan Giggs has revealed that he has felt "different" at times due to his mixed-race background.   Giggs' father Danny Wilson, is black and was a former rugby union player,  while his mother Lynne Giggs, is white.   The football icon has now revealed he took note of his mixed-race heritage when he moved from Cardiff to Manchester due to his father's rugby career.   It was at that point that Giggs says he began to feel "different", especially since most people could not guess that he was mixed-race.      "I didn't experience anything in Cardiff. Abandoned newborn baby found dead inside church in Rivers State (photo)

A newborn baby wrapped in Ankara fabric was found abandoned inside a church in Obio-Akpor local government area in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.   It was gathered that the baby was found dead on Monday, October 26, inside the partially fenced church located at Ozuoba junction along NTA-Mgbuoba Road.    Residents of Ozuoba and Rumuosi communities in Obio-Akpor said the baby reportedly died as result of exposure to cold.  

Flights reportedly grounded at Akure airport after discovery of crater on runway

Flights at the Akure Airport in Ondo State were grounded on Monday, October 26, following the discovery of a crater on the runway.    A source within the Airport told Daily Trust that the incident forced the management of the airport to close the Airport and prevented the flight from taking off or landing in the airport, leaving many travellers were stranded. The source disclosed that the officials of the airport authority discovered the crater, on Sunday night, October 25, and consequently closed the runway.   "The hole was discovered during the early morning check by the security of the airport. We are yet to know those behind it. I think the intention of the miscreants was to cause a plane crash in the airport," the source said. "The security operatives have been invited to see the place. Six people arrested over arson attack in Ekiti

The Ekiti State police command has confirmed the arrest of 6 people over an arson attack carried out in the state.    The suspects identified as Odeyemi Sina aged 12, Ayomide Akomolafe (13), Alao Emmanuel, Ojuko Tobi, Sunday Salihu, and Kosedake Olamilekan were accused of being part of the hoodlums who burnt down two divisional police stations and the area command office in Ikere-Ekiti when the #EndSARS protest was hijacked.   The state police spokesperson Sunday Abutu who revealed that the minors were arrested at the scene of the incident, added that the suspects have confessed to the crime.    Abutu said;     “When the EndSARS protest started, everything was done peacefully until the 20th of October when some hoodlums stormed our Area Command in Ikere Divisional Police Station and burnt the police station and vehicles there. “They also went to two other divisional police stations, particularly the Afao Ikere division, and set the stations and vehicles there ablaze. A woman from Kwale in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta state has asked for prayers after she was allegedly beaten to the ''point of death by her husband.'' The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara graduate shared photos of her battered face, body with head wrapped in bandages on a popular Facebook group on Monday, October 26. She captioned the post:    "My husband almost beat me to death. Igbos had no say in Nigeria’s amalgamation - Orji Uzor Kalu

The lawmaker representing Abia North in the senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has averred that the Igbos had no say in the amalgation which gave birth to Nigeria.    The former Governor of Abia state who disclosed this in his newly released autobiography ‘My Life’,  traced the “plight of the Igbos” to the early 19th century when the British first explored the Lower Niger.   Orji Uzor who stated that the Igbos did not have a say as to whether they desired to be a part of such contraption or not, affirmed that they enjoyed a brief sunshine in Nigeria in the decade before and a few years after independence.   He said in the book;    “In January 1914, Lord Fredrick Lugard completed the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates into Colonial Nigeria and became its first Governor-General.  “The Igbos did not have a say as to whether they desired to be a part of such a contraption or not. Nigerian youths have raised alarm after the youth representatives on the Lagos judicial panel of enquiry on police brutality were asked to sign an oath of secrecy.   In response to the demands of End SARS protests, the Lagos state government set up the Lagos judicial panel of enquiry on police brutality and extra-judicial killings and invited two Nigerian youths to be on the panel.   The people chosen to represent the youths are Rinu Oduala and Majekodunmi Temitope.   However, earlier today, as the session was about to start, a copy of a document panellists were asked to sign hit the internet. The panellists were given an oath of secrecy to sign, swearing they will not "directly or indirectly communicate or reveal any matter to any person" without being "officially permitted by the Governor".   Nigerians did not agree with this and stated that secrecy will not allow for transparency.       Reacting, Nigerians on Twitter said they want an open panel.   Subsequently,
